NDPC Scholarship
Recipients of the North Dakota Petroleum Council scholarship for the 2010-11 school term are Amanda Krieger, Derrick Blanksma and Matthew Carns.
The scholarship fund was established in 2008 to support students who are pursuing post-secondary education in geology, engineering, processing plant technology, science, technical skills or other careers related to the oil and gas industry. The scholarships are part of the oil and gas industry’s efforts to help solve growing workforce demands in North Dakota.

Amanda Krieger will be transferring to the University of North Dakota for the fall semester to pursue a degree in geological engineering. She currently works as an engineering staff intern for Keitu Engineers & Consultants, Inc. Krieger plans to obtain a master’s degree in environmental engineering from UND as well. |

Derrick Blanksma is in his first year as a geological engineering major at the University of North Dakota. He graduated from Concordia College in 2009 with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics. He is planning to be a member of a research team led by a UND petroleum engineering faculty or work for a geological engineering firm during the summer months. |

Matthew Carns is a geological engineering major with a concentration in petroleum at the University of North Dakota. During the summer of 2009, he worked as an intern with field inspectors for the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division. He hopes to one day obtain an engineering career with a state department. |
