Pick Up the Patch and Community Clean-Ups to Begin Next Week

Bismarck, N.D. –Pick Up the Patch! and community spring clean-up events are slated to begin next week and many will continue through May. The oil and gas industry will be participating in several of these events by sending out volunteers or providing supplies and lunch.

“It appears spring has finally sprung, and we’re all excited to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather,” said Tiffany Steiner, Membership and Marketing Manager for the North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC). “This starts with some spring cleaning, and we’re thrilled that many of our members are stepping up to send employees out, provide gloves, water, vests, lunch and more to help our communities.”

Events scheduled so far include:

April 20-May 12:  Dickinson, ND

April 25:  Trenton, ND

April 28:  Williston, ND

May 2:  New Town

May 9:  Crosby, ND

May 12:  Watford City

The NDPC encourages both communities and industry to let them know about other events to help recruit volunteers.

The NDPC launched a Pick Up the Patch! Program in 2012 to get its members involved in leading or participating clean-up events and by encouraging a no-litter culture among their employees. Over the past five years, hundreds of industry volunteers have collected thousands of bags of trash along hundreds of miles of roadways and streets. IN 2015, the program was awarded the Environmental Partnership Award by the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) for demonstrating innovation, dedication and passion for the environment.
