Battle of the Bakken Blood Drive Kicks Off Friday

Bismarck, N.D. – The Third Annual Battle of the Bakken Blood Drive will kick off tomorrow, January 27. The blood drive, which is hosted by the North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC) in partnership with United Blood Services, pits companies operating in the Bakken against one another in a friendly competition to recruit the most volunteers and help United Blood Services collect vital resources.

“Our industry’s employees are always at the ready to step up and volunteer in ways that will help make a difference in the communities in which we work and live,” said Tessa Sandstrom, communications director for the NDPC. “There is no better way to help give back than by donating a potentially life-saving resource.”

Companies will be competing for $1,000 to be donated to the charity of their choice, but the competition isn’t limited to industry employees. Friends and families or members of the public can also donate on a company’s behalf to help them gain an advantage in winning the competition.

The blood drive will run through February 28, 2017. Individuals may donate blood at one of the scheduled stops in western North Dakota or go into their local United Blood Services location to donate.
