Community Outreach & Philanthropy
Community outreach is vital to garnering support and creating positive community relations across North Dakota, and the NDPC is committed to strengthening those ties. In 2018, the NDPC formed the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation to provide and support education and outreach opportunities related to the petroleum industry, develop and advance quality of life initiatives, and promote and enhance the conservation heritage of North Dakota.
The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, works to achieve these goals through various programs and initiatives. Whether it is through town halls, barbecues, charity drives or volunteer events, members have the opportunity to increase their presence and influence in the community by developing existing partnerships, fostering new relationships with key stakeholders throughout the state, and promoting the safe and responsible development of our natural resources.
Energy of North Dakota
For nearly a decade, the NDPC has worked to expand outreach and education opportunities through first our North Dakota Oil Can! program and most recently through our new Energy of North Dakota campaign with the goal of increasing communication and awareness between our members and the communities in which we operate. Events hosted by the Energy of North Dakota program include the Bakken Rocks CookFests, Teacher Education Seminar, ND Energy Education program, Pick Up the Patch!, charitable drives, and more.
Planting for the Future
Planting for the Future is a habitat and conservation program that provides trees and shrubs for large-scale planting projects. The program is supported by the Outdoor Heritage Fund, the North Dakota Petroleum Council, ONEOK, other industry partners, private landowners, and sportsmen and conservation groups.
The North Dakota Petroleum Council awards several scholarships each year to students pursuing a degree in fields related to energy.
Mule Deer Foundation Energy Partnership Program
The Mule Deer Foundation in North Dakota has worked closely with the North Dakota Petroleum Council over the past years with support for their youth program, M.U.L.E.Y. and conservation efforts in North Dakota. Many industry partners have assisted in donations toward MDF projects or in-kind equipment and labor which has been an incredible benefit to their mission
